Editor)
Please advise Secretary Dale Lear of your E-mail address to receive your
Newsletter via e-mail. This will help us to lower our mailing cost.
Only the officers of the club will have access to the e-mail address plus
identity of that member.
Articles for the newsletter need to be received by Editor Dale NO LATER THAN ten
days before the meeting date. This is to allow enough time for printing
and mailing of the newsletter.
Members receiving their newsletter via mail need to provide any change of
address to the Secretary.
START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for 2/11/02 Meeting as taken by Gene Gregg
The meeting was called to order at the Sweetwater Café by President Bradler at
7:00 P.M.
The minutes of the January 14, 2001 meeting, as appearing in the newsletter,
were approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT: (Treasurer not present)
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Cowboy Next match is on 2/23. Good last match with 13 shooters which
included 2 ladies. Saturday at 9:00 A.M. there will be a match at the
Cross Creek Gun Club on Blossom Road in Fayetteville.
Skeet Five or six people showed up but it rained and everyone went home.
Next match is on 3/10 and the 4 gun shoot starts on 3/16.
Action Pistol First match is the 4th Sunday in April.
Big Bore Matches will start up on March 16th.
Training Nothing is scheduled.
.22 Field Pistol Matches start up on Saturday, March 23rd.
NEW BUSINESS:
Vote on Probationary Club Members from 2001. Passed by acclamation.
The names of the 42 proposed members selected by the Membership Committee for
the 43 openings were read. Motion made and seconded for acceptance as
probationary club membership in 2002. Motion: Passed.
MGy Sgt. Miller advised that UNCW had approved the summer camp for shooting in
July. A national camp for Junior Olympians. Consist of 3 position
shooting. School program team members earn letters. 80 students have
signed up. Ashley High School is in line for $70,000.00 to build a range.
NRA sent $10,000.00 to buy new CO2 guns for all three high schools.
Announcement: NC Turkey Federation have a dinner on 2/16/02 with door
prizes and scantily clad girls.
Don Sloop requested one skeet field be reserved on 4/27 for Ducks Unlimited
Green Wings shoot for kids 11 to 14 years of age. No opposition.
Boy Scouts of America Troop 221 from Carolina Beach want to use the club for an
overnight camping activity on 3/10/02. No opposition.
Don Sloop requested the Long Range Planning Committee have an area on the new
property for primitive camping. We need a burn on the new property to use
it for shooting to get under the 3 year provision.
Report of the burglary at the club. Items stolen included the TV, VCR, pay
phone, microwave, 600 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, First Aid Kit, Target
door, $12 to $20 from the soda machine, toilet paper and soap. Club will
be re-keyed. Options are under study. Best option is one key for 6
locks not to include skeet locks or action pistol locks. Tom will look
into this.
New Member Orientation will be Saturday, February 16th. Existing keys will
be utilized until re-keying is accomplished.
Down range light is in. However, the sound is not in and the sign is not
up.

A reminder —
All club members should have received a letter and registration form for the
10th Annual "Shoot the Works" sporting clay tournament which will be
held on Saturday, March 23 at Kelly's Range in Kelly, NC commencing at 8:30 A.M.
The proceeds benefit The YAHWEH CENTER Children's Village. Registration is
$65.00 before 3/15/02 and $75.00 after 3/15/02. For more information
