PRESIDENT JOHN IS COOKING!!!
President John Scott is cooking up a bar-b-que meal for everyone to come and
enjoy at the clubhouse prior to the meeting and following the CMP Rimfire
Sporter Match (see the next article) on August 11, 2003. President John
desires to delay the business portion of the meeting until after the meal so
come on out to the clubhouse to eat at 7:00 and meet at 7:30 P.M. Please
let Secretary Dale know, 686-2418 or E-mail at DELSNOOP@aol.com, if you
plan to shoot or eat or meet or all three or any combination thereof so we can
get a count!
CMP RIMFIRE SPORTER MATCH: (Sholar Powell)
We will have a .22 rimfire sporter rifle match for interested club members prior
to the August 11 meeting at the range. The shoot will start at 4:00 P.M.
Course of fire will be: 5 sighter shots at 50 yards from any position, in 10
minutes; 10 prone shots at 50 yards in 10 minutes; 10 prone shots, fired in 2
strings of 5 shots at 50 yards in 25 seconds for semi-autos and 35 seconds for
bolt guns; 10 sitting/kneeling shots at 50 yards in 10 minutes; 10
sitting/kneeling shots in 2 strings of 5 shots at 50 yards in 25 seconds for
semi-autos and 35 seconds for bolt guns; 10 standing shots at 25 yards in 10
minutes; 10 standing shots in 2 strings of 5 shots at 25 yards in 25 seconds for
semi-autos and 35 seconds for bolts guns. Any .22 sporter rifle allowed; scopes
and aperture sights shoot in one class; open metallic sights in another class.
Slings allowed in prone and sitting/kneeling. Dust off that .22 you've got in
the closet and come on out an shoot. Big prize is your score in the newsletter;
$5 if you don't want to print it.....see you Aug. 11.
START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 7/14/03 Meeting
The meeting at the club was called to order by President John Scott at 7:20 P.M.
at the Sahara Pita & Subs, 2224 S. 17th Street.
The minutes of the last meeting (June 9, 2003), as corrected, were accepted.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Cowboy As reported in the newsletter. Next match is this Saturday, August
16th.
OLD BUSINESS:
President Nothing to report on the
clubhouse roof. Discussion. Cooler weather is ahead. Our
realtor sent a letter but received no reply from the owners of the 10 acres and
will try personal contact. Discussion.
NEW BUSINESS:
Don Sloop Desires to reserve 1 skeet
field for Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2003 for the Brunswick Ducks Unlimited
Green Wings Shoot. No calendar conflict. No objections.
Sholar Powell Request the August 11th meeting be held at the club so a CMP
Rimfire Sporter Match can be fired commencing at 4:00 P.M. Targets are at
the club. David Miller will provide the ammunition. Bring your .22
(semi-automatics are allowed) and come shoot. Open metal sights and scopes
are allowed. The strongest scope setting that will be allowed is 6X and a
shooter will be allowed to tape his scope at that power. CMP Affidavits
will be asked for but will not be required. CMP Affidavits will be
available at the range however they need to be notarized.
Sholar motioned, Don Sloop seconded, that "The August 11, 2003 meeting be
held at the clubhouse." Motion: Passed.
Bob Neale He took aerial photographs of the club. He will provide 8 x 12
color prints for $6.50 each or $5 for 3 or more.
Ray Campbell A meeting of the workers for Friends of the NRA will be held this
coming Wednesday at Shooter's Choice on Gordon Road. Those volunteering
will be briefed on selling sponsorships, tickets, etc in preparation for the
upcoming annual event.
ATTENDANCE: 15 which included 1 Complimentary Member.
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.

JULY NRA ACTION PISTOL MATCH: (Sholar Powell)
We had a pretty good turnout for a hot July Sunday match. Ray showed up
and had forgotten his good stuff, but posted some fine scores shooting an iron
sight pistol. Makes you really appreciate that red dot sight. Iris
and Jeff piled in and had good shooting as well. Gehrig is getting to be a
regular, and hope to see him back again. Phil Raynor and Paul Huffman
turned out to kibbitz, and hope to see both of these guys jumping in the pool
with the rest of us next month. Winners in the July match included:

AT THE ACTION PISTOL BARRICADES ON WHICH ARE SIGNS STATING "DO NOT SHOOT
BARRICADES."
