START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 10/10/05 Meeting:
Meeting started at 7:23 pm, presided over by President John Scott. 13 members were present. The August minutes and August and September Treasurer’s report was approved (as there was not a quorum at the September meeting).
New Business:
John Scott discussed moving the skeet fields to the area of the present pistol bays and cowboy action area, and move them to the present skeet field location. There are still communications with International Paper about purchasing some land to the west of the present skeet field.
Tom Mix reported the NRA asked if BGC would host the national big bore silhouette match next year. The feeling of those present was to decline the offer.
The following resolution was passed:
Resolution to Support A New Rifle Range At Ashley High School
Whereas:
To the best of my knowledge, all the high schools of New Hanover and Brunswick Counties, except Ashley High School, currently have buildings dedicated to the training of and competition among students in the discipline of air rifle shooting; and
Ashley High School has raised about half the $135,000 needed for construction of a similar facility (as of August 2005); and
The Ashley High School shooting team has had outstanding success in its first three years under the auspices of the NJROTC program directed by CWO David Foster; and
The Ashley High School NJROTC program includes some 140 students who can apply for the discipline of air rifle team shooting; and
The NRA has contributed $5000 towards the building of Ashley's new range.
Therefore be it resolved:
That Buccaneer Gun Club, as part of its 2006 budget, shall contribute to the Ashley High School air rifle building fund via the NJROTC Booster Club a sum of $1000.
BGC will disburse the funds in 2006 when member Robert Neale determines building has started and the funds will be used specifically for this project.
Meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 10/10/05 meeting.
NOTICE TO ALL RIFLE AND PISTOL SHOOTERS:
Please do not park your vehicle on the rocks that have recently been place next to the rifle sheds. They are covering drainage pipes that could be crushed. We are trying to improve the drainage around the shed. If you back up to the shed, please stop short of the newly placed gravel.
Camp LeJeune - Buccaneer Gun Club Clay Target Challenge:
This is a call to arms for all good club members to defend our "Five-Man
Team Challenge" with our good friends from Camp Lejuene. This will follow
the same rules as last year except Lejuene is the host and will provide the
trophies and the meal at the final event. BGC won last year, a real
thrashing, I think we won by 2 or 3 targets for the high over all after both
sides shot 2000 targets. What do you think, thrashed them right????
For those of you that don't remember or that is new to the club, this is the
basic rules. All members are encouraged to shoot the event which will be
50 skeet and 50 trap targets. After shoot completion the scores are totaled
for each shooters combined skeet and trap targets and the best five scores
are used as our five-man team score for that event and will be used toward
our HOA that will be totaled and used to determine which club wins the
challenge award.
Awards will be presented to each event's winning five-man team and at the
fourth and final shoot awards will be giving to the HOA skeet score, HOA
trap and HOA skeet and trap. And the number one award is the HOA FIVE-MAN
TEAM which is a traveling challenge award and we have it in it's place of
honor, our the club house.
It's a lot of fun and some good shooting so please try to come out and shoot
or eat and meet.
1st shoot BGC, 10:00am, Sunday, Nov 27, 2005
2nd shoot Camp Lejuene, 10:00am, Sunday, Dec 11, 2005
The 3rd and 4th dates to be announced
Cost: $20.00 includes targets, awards, food and a lot of BS

Thursday night December 1st at 6:30 Ray Campbell, Ray Jackson, Don Pelling and Jay Della Bella are putting on a three gun match under the lights on the Cowboy range, moving target range, and the falling plate range........Equipment you'll need will be semi-auto center fire high capacity magazine rifle, an automatic, centerfire pistol and a few magaziness, and a pump or auto shotgun....So all you "Black Gun" shooters should be there. OCTOBER NRA ACTION PISTOL MATCH (Sholar Powell):
We had a good showing for the final scheduled match of the year, and everybody enjoyed fried chicken and potato salad before, during, and after the shoot......Ray Campbell will be squawking for the next 2-3 weeks until he processes all the barnyard bird he consumed. Had a new young shooter with us for the first time....David Ruehle came and shot .22 pistol and scored well. His Dad has a Kimber 9mm on order, so we expect to see David shooting centerfire soon. Ray J. and Ray C. shot 450 each in Falling Plate, and even though it was in different classes and different firearms, we decided a shoot-off would be appropriate. Ray C. hung tough to win. Jay and Ray C. have said they will continue the matches on an informal basis from November to March, until we start shooting the regular NRA matches again....so stay in tune for dates and times of shoots they put on this winter......winners at this match include:

Headline: Wishbone Still Spitt'n
It was Halloween evening when Wishbone Pellingstein was taking the chuck wagon into town to stock up on some essentials when he came across a nun walking in the same direction. He asked if she needed a ride and although apprehensive she jumped on board. After a few miles Wishbone confided to her that he had always had a dream about kissing a nun. She seemed quite alarmed but after a few miles and a lot of nagging from Wishbone she finally agreed to give him a kiss providing he met two qualifications....One was that he was single and the other was that he was a Catholic. Wishbone assured her that he was single and had always been a Pope hugging Catholic. After those assurances they pulled over to the side of the trail and she gave Wishbone the most romantic kiss that he could have ever dreamed of. In fact, he tells this reporter that he thinks he may have passed out from lack of oxygen during the kiss.....After a few miles Wishbone got very quiet and the nun asked him what was bothering him. He replied that his conscience was bothering him due a lie or two that he had told her.....He finally confessed to her that not only was he not single but that he was also Jewish to boot. The nun said she also felt bad and had a confession to make to him.......She told Wishbone that her real name was Clem and he was on his way to a costume party....Like I said earlier...."Wishbone is still spitt'n"........
We had a total of 17 cowboys and no cowgirls at this months match......The scores went like this
Ragtime Kid (Traditional) 156.13

The next match will be the third Saturday in November and will be our last match for this year as we skip December.....We plan to eat after the match so the November match is not one to miss.....I think we'll have a chicken and fixin’s lunch probably cooked by that famous Cajun cook (Mr. Bojangels)....So until I see you on match day don't forget...."Take a kid shooting".....Respectfully submitted.......Ned Bluntline
