END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 8/8/05 Meeting.
Friends of NRA Event 2005 A Big Success........Well it looks like in spite of ourselves that we've had another banner year for this years NRA foundation fund raiser.......I don't have the final figures in yet but it sure looks like the check that we write to the NRA Foundation will be bigger than last year by probably $2,000 or so.. I think the attendance at the event was probably about the same as last year or maybe a little larger but I know that we sold more tickets and sponsorships than last year......it really does my old hear to good to hear you guys say "I don't think I can make it this year but please send me a couple of tickets or a sponsorship anyway." I think we all know that if it were not for the Buccaneer Gun Club that this dinner/auction would not be as big as it has gotten.
As in previous years there were a few special moments that i always remember for a few years. One was when the
Ashley High School JROTC young lady cadet sang the Star Spangled Banner....when I hear it always give me goose bumps and I hope it does you too. Another was when John Scott (The Buccaneer President) won his choice of anything on the live auction....only give it back to the event a few minutes later.....John picked a beautiful bullet board which he gave back and then we auctioned it off for $300.00 or more.......
The Middle of the Island food was as good as ever and I think everybody got their fill...........thanks again to the Buccaneer guys who donated their time and money to help make this event a success............Ray
NOTICE TO ALL RIFLE AND PISTOL SHOOTERS:
Please do not park your vehicle on the rocks that have recently been place next to the rifle sheds. They are covering drainage pipes that could be crushed. We are trying to improve the drainage around the shed. If you back up to the shed, please stop short of the newly placed gravel.

Headline: Words of Wisdom
1. Don't squat with your spurs on.
2. Don't interfere with something that ain't bothering you none.
3. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
4. Always drink upstream from the herd.
5. Telling a man to git and making him do it are two entirely different propositions.
6. When you give a personal lesson in meanness to a critter or to a person don't be surprised if they learn their lesson.
7. If you're riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still back there.
8. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.
9. If you get to thinking you're a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else's dog around.
10. And never, ever, miss a good opportunity to shut up.
We had a good match last Saturday if you like to shoot cowboy with the temperature in the mid 90's and the humidity about the same. We shot the Texas Star again with a little twist....this time you had to shoot the red, white and blue plates first...I was feeling patriotic.......I'm going to give you a months notice that next month the star will be moving before you start shooting it....so practice, practice, practice. As usual Ragtime's family took some good pictures of the match so go www.Ragtimekid.com to see them.....The Raghead is Dick W. Holliday.......We had a few spectators at this months match and one of them is already ordering his stuff to be ready for next month......The next time you see Dick Holliday, ask him what the cowboy told his horse........
Scores went like this....
Cowgirls Traditional Traditional 2nd Flight Seniors Duelist
Carolina Rose Ragtime Kid Little Mix Idaho Spud Pard Picket
Dead Eye Diva Dick W. Holliday Marshal Carbine Kidd
Ali Oakley Headmaster Killer Karl Doc Clock
Cody Grey Deacon Dave
We had some neat prizes at this shoot courtesy of Jack Kuske, Cosby Thomas, and the Friends of NRA. Everybody was a prize winner this month.......So until the third Saturday in September don't forget........."Take a Kid Shooting"...........Respectfully Submitted.......Ned Bluntline
PS......I almost forgot......I think political correctness has reached a new level......Today I heard a neighborhood kid tell a friend that they were going to play a game of Cattle Management Specialists and Native Americans.......
