Meeting convened at 7:00 pm, 20 members, 1 probationary and 1 guest present. The March Minutes and Treasurer’s report were approved.

The lawn tractor at the rifle range is working again.
Work is continuing on a new entrance and gate to the club, it will be straight off Honey Do Lane.
New Business:
New targets are needed for the cowboy action range. The group had investigated possibilities and contacted the Mayberry company. A motion was made and passed unanimously to appropriate up to $1500 for the purchase of new targets.
A request was made to survey the membership to see if there are any certified Hunter Safety instructors. There is interest in a hunter safety class. If you are one or know someone who is please contact Dick Brame (ccaasmfc@cs.com or 262-2763).
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 4/09/07 Meeting.
April Skeet Shoot
12 shooters had a perfect day to shoot clay targets, some did and some didn’t. Here were the scores:
Class A Chuck Gambino 50
Class B Lewis Carlton 42
Class C Ron Waidlich 49
Class E Chris Moore 41
New Class Frankie Langston 31
Come out next month and join us, it’s a lot of fun. The skeet committee chair offered to pay $10,000 for the next month highest score, but we told him to keep his chump change……..
APRIL NRA ACTION PISTOL (Sholar Powell): We had a small turnout for the first match of the year, but weather was good and all enjoyed the shooting. Ray C. was not present, and last heard from in a Lowe’s somewhere in Wilmington, working on a “home project” that was evidently high priority. Larry Utt was visiting from West Virginia and came out to try his hand at Action Pistol, doing well. Bill Wetherill and his wife drifted over from the Cowboy Range to take a look, and we hope to see them back at a future match with guns to go. We’ll be shooting the 4th Sunday of each month from here until October…..come on out and give it a try.

FROM THE LEGISLATIVE BENCH
Since the Virginia Tech carnage, strange bedfellows have been reported with the association of the NRA and the Democratic controlled Congress regarding mental health issues and firearms purchases. What!? Yep, it seems the individual states have a problem reporting mental health information to the Feds based upon privacy concerns. Leary, for good reason indeed... information abuse has history. However, when fully adjudicated mental health issues are part of an individual’s baggage it should be reportable. Voluntary commitment should be an item for review as well. It may not be a deniable situation, but it should be grounds for a review to determine if the case warrants firearms denial. We must be extremely careful here... amendments can be attached to a well written bill to the detriment of our Second Amendment position. GOA has issued a statement in opposition to any such bill infringing on privacy issues... hard core. As a Southerner I’m big on state’s rights as were my Confederate ancestors, but certifiable “nut cases” should be on a disqualification list. It’s crazy not to be... oops.
The firearms dealer relies on the truthfulness of the prospective buyer to answer the questions on the federal 4473 form as to their qualification. In our great state, if the buyer has a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit or a Pistol Purchase Permit he/she is good to go! If the buyer lacks such documentation, a phone call to the instant check system (NICS) provides possible clearance. If the Feds do not have access to the mental health information which the state has, well therein lays a problem. Deja vous, VT.
Do not let your guard down... this slight association of “the good, the bad, and the ugly” only makes sense because it is sensible. The horrific House Bill 1022 is the wake up call... back to reality. You have noted the in-your-face irony of the HB number, haven’t you? Bill Ruger would be pissed! Contact your legislators and express your opinion... yours may be the volley to influence the outcome.
When contacting our NC state legislators regarding state politics, you may e-mail the entire House of Representatives with nchousemembers@ncleg.net or the entire Senate with ncsenatemembers@ncleg.net or both with internete-mail@ncleg.net.
Fire away,
Ron

Headline: Dodge City Dude Picks Wife To Bear His Children.....
|
An extraordinarily
handsome cowboy by the name of Dodge City Dude decided he had the
responsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce
beautiful children beyond compare. With that as his mission he began to
search for the perfect woman. Shortly thereafter he met an old rancher
who had three stunning, gorgeous daughters that positively took his
breath away. So he explained his mission to the rancher and asked for
permission to marry one of them.
Sounds like Dude was a weeeeeee bit surprized.......
