primary focus is on retail, catalog mail order, and web based sales of Golf
Equipment.
MegCor Discount Golf is a regional Golf Equipment Sales and Service Company
located in Lumberton, NC. They have provided retail and catalog mail order sales.
Founded in19XX, MegCor builds it’s business around a fundamental idea:
provide high end, ongoing service for Golf Equipment at a reasonable price.
When faced with the challenge of bringing their business to the web, the had
two goals:
First: provide the same customer friendliness and ease of use they are famous
for…
Second: Launch their e-commerce channel as an extension of their business, not
a complete new business. E-Commerce needed to be a way to increase sales, but
not put a significant financial or operational strain on the company.They knew
the Internet was definitely going to be a major method of sales, but they were
cautious to venture the millions invested by their online competitors.
Inttek provide the perfect solution to their goals. Working directly with MegCor,
Inttek developed an inventory display system that allowed their online customers
to find exactly what they needed within 3 or less clicks from the front page.
This was a significant achievement, considering that each club could have as
many as 60 different combinations. Inttek modeled the web system after the business
flow of MegCor, allowing it’s employees to continue their normal duties
– with the only exception that they now had a new source of orders. One
interesting fact was that the site also increased traditional sales by having
customers call in from the sites toll free number to place phone orders as well.

Inttek and MegCor continue their relationship now after 2 years from the
site launch. MegCor.com isn’t the largest e-business golf site on the
web by far. It’s web presence has simply become a very cost effective
way of doing business. It’s also interesting to note that the majority
of MegCor’s “high dollar” .COM competitors are no longer
in business. MegCor.com is still here and continuing to grow – one
customer at a time.
